A little glimpse of Taiwan

As it is pooring outside right now, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to share a few pics of Taiwan with you.

So here are some glimpses of Taiwan and more particularly Jhongli City where I have been staying for the past few days. Expect more pics when I come back!

Guy-Young & Guillaume - Aftershoot

At first it should have been an Engagement session, but as time ran out, we finally didn’t make it before their actual wedding. So in the end we changed our plan and did an Aftershoot / Engagement / Love session.

The three of us strolled in some of the areas of Paris I really love and we enjoyed the great weather we were blessed with at this time. The light was just perfect. Guy-Young and Guillaume were just back from their honeymoon and they sure had a great tan so it was perfect for our photoshoot.

Aren’t they both gorgeous?

This is one of the reasons why I love shooting in Paris: great colors everywhere. Just look at these gorgeous doors.

Diane & Vincent - Aftershoot

Hi Internet, you might remember that I already told you about Diane & Vincent as I had the pleasure to shoot their wedding a few months ago. It was a great event, but unfortunately, as it was raining, we didn’t get to do as many pictures as we wanted to.

It was the perfect opportunity to setup an Aftershoot session in Le Mans! This time the weather was great and we got to hang out during a whole afternoon together!

Guy-Young & Guillaume - Wedding

Guy-Young and Guillaume met more than 11 years ago when they were still students. They started seeing each other as friends as they were hanging with the same group of people. Then came a day where they spent time alone in a café: the entire day flew as they were talking about everything. From this moment on, they were always together.

Guillaume wanted to be with Guy-Young as much as he could and he was willingly accompanying her when she was shopping or going dancing while he hated that. They grew closer when Guy-Young had a slight car accident: Guillaume was constantly calling her to make sure that she was sound and well.

A month later, they confessed their love for each other. And since then, they were always together, building their couple and their future.

Inès & Jean-Alexandre - Wedding

Inès and Jean-Alexandre have known each other since they were in kindergarten, and as Inès recalls it, Jean-Alexandre was hitting her all the time. But they only realized that far later when they started dating. They started their history together more than ten years ago.

For all these years, they have worked on their couple, strengthening its fundations by helping and complementing each other. Although he is mischievous, Jean-Alexandre has always stand by Inès’ side and has supported her from all his heart. She, in return, offers him her tenderness and strengh of character.

When you look at the two of them, everyone could sense how happy they are together and all their friends agree that this hapiness is infectious

Diane & Vincent - Wedding

Diane and Vincent grew up practically next door from each other in the same small city. For years, they have shared moments as kids and later as teens and they were best friends all along. All this time, their friends have tried to throw them in each other arms but without success.

They each took a different road for a while before meeting again and realizing that they were were made for each other.

They got married in May and even if it was raining, nothing could ruin this happy moment they shared with their family and their friends.

Hot’n Cold - Super powers

When I was younger, I used to dream I had super powers. I always told myself that someday I would be able to fly or to develop a super strength. I even bribed a friend to let me ride on his bike handlebars while he was riding at full speed in a slope and while I was sporting a towel around my neck. I hoped that it would give me enough momentum to take off by the end of the slope. And sure it did! For weeks I would tell my friends that I glided for nearly ten seconds. I would never tell them that this so-called glide ended up in a blackberry bush though!

Unfortunately, those who know me can tell you that I don’t have any super powers to brag. The only extraordinary ability I have is to be able to park my car within 50m of the place I need to go… which is pretty useless if I have to fight crime unless I am acting as Batman driver and need to park the Batmobile someplace safe…

Well, I thought, like the reasonable adult I was (stop laughing!), that I was without any super powers until I realized that I could dream the future! Yes you read well Internet!

Over the last few months I dreamed my phone, my main workstation and my car would start acting funky. And you what? They sure did! I really have a gift! Yeah it’s called amazing rotten luck!
Well nothing too serious in the end and it gives me the opportunity to upgrade aging hardware (yeah I also have another ability: I am super optimist)

Anyhow, if someday I could really fly that would be the greatest!

Hot this week:

London: I still love this city to no end. I love the atmosphere, and naturally I love shopping there and eating all sorts of treats!
I just received my updated Boda photo bag and I can’t wait to try it on the field.

Cold stuff this week:

My main workstation just died after 3 years of good service, it is now used as a cat stand.
Customs like me too much these days.

Karen & Anthony - Wedding

Karen and Anthony met when they were in highschool. They shared their early adult years together, defining and strengthening their relationship as a couple… and later on as a familly when their son Benjamin was born.

After 10 years together, Anthony proposed on the day of their anniversary.

Karen and Anthony are two simple persons who love their friends and who are kind at heart. Initially they wanted to have a small wedding, but Karen’s father wouldn’t have it this way. He wanted her daughter to get married with a bang, and decided to gift her with a wonderful wedding. It was him who contacted me to document this very special day. I was so moved by this loving attention that I immediately said yes.

What I bring with me

Hello Internet! Yeah I know it’s been an awful amount of time since I updated this blog last time… I am really sorry for that. I could find excuses, telling you that my cats change my admin password and that it made me unable to post any updates, but no. I simply have been too busy working on shoots, on my website design and post-processing.

Sooo again sorry, but that also means that there are good things to come! Stay tuned!

In the meantime this is just a small update because I received lots of questions recently about what I was bringing to a wedding or a shoot. It actually slightly depends on the shoot and the size of the wedding but generally it all comes down to what I can carry by myself when I don’t have a second shooter with me. So here goes: I generally bring two bodies, 4 lenses which all fit in my trusty Boda Bag and my light rod. You can see all of these in the following shot and if you need more details don’t hesitate to ask!

I am getting back to work, and I will be posting real good updates pretty soon.
